Sustainable Development Goals and STEM
As per the United Nations, The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
STEM learning should contribute to spreading the SDGs and finding solutions to today's problems and concerns. Our world needs more problem solvers than before. With a population of nearly 8 billion, we are continuously striving to sustain a balanced life but the balances seem to be tilting down. It is time to infuse creativity and innovation to tackle age-old problems like lack of resources, climate change, access to education, gender inequality, and clean energy.

Meet Shubendu Sharma who has created 33 forests and is working to reforest the world, one tiny patch at a time.
He is an engineer and attended a lecture by Dr. Akira Miyawaki at Toyota Bangalore in 2008 where he worked. He was so inspired by the talk that he worked as a volunteer with Dr. Miyawaki at his first forest creation project in India. In December 2009 he started studying, researching, and documenting the Miyawaki Method. This resulted in SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) documents on how to create a forest using the Miyawaki Method. It was successful. He launched Afforestt on 1st January 2011.
Hear his journey in his TED Talk and be inspired.
He used the STEM knowledge to make a DIFFERENCE and you can do it too.

DREAM BIG
Take a few minutes off from your busy schedule and isolate yourself. Reflect upon your strengths, passion, and dreams, and note them down.
Now record which one of them makes you the most happy and brings a smile to your face. You never feel tired doing anything pertaining to that area of your expertise.
Start manifesting how you are going to build that strength, passion, or dream and help it reach more people. What are the resources you will need to grow? Start recording.
Every day, begin a few steps towards that dream no matter where the road takes you. Keep holding to that thought and seek support, and guidance from people who CARE.
You will ACHIEVE it. You were meant to be successful. You were meant to make a positive impact on the world.
ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!
