Virtual Labs
A virtual lab. app with your students at home or at school at times can be very helpful to record your STEM experiment observations and analyze them constructively.
Our students use FizziQ to record the decibel level on the streets to study noise pollution. They record music on their smartphones and study the quality of waveforms and how instruments are different from each other.
They use it to measure speed, velocity, and acceleration and so much more.
The possibilities are endless and one is not dependent on a physical laboratory to find solutions.
There are many virtual laboratories and you can use anyone which is apt for your needs.
It is not possible to have your students experience everything first hand like understanding the formation of our planet or looking up at the stars and recognizing the constellation or seeing the flow of blood in our veins and arteries. With augmented reality apps, teaching is more experiential and immersive.
There are so many more apps available that you can use as per the need of your lesson intentions.
Do explore these apps and experiment within your classrooms.
Immersive technology
Watch the video where you walk through the streets of Egypt and experience the Egyptian civilization firsthand. How was the experience? What if sitting in your class, you travel in the remotest and most dangerous places safely? What if you are able to fly an airplane learning the rules safely? Sounds exciting!!!!
This is an immersive technology that creates distinct experiences for users by merging the physical world with a simulated or virtual world.
Immersive technology uses Virtual reality, 360-degree video, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality.
So, in your classroom, if you want your students to visit the Planet Mars, you can help them walk on Mars experiencing real-life scenarios of Mars like the soil, the landscape, and the sky within the classroom. This provides a risk-free experience to the students and at the same time, makes learning more experiential and relevant.
TASK 10
Create a 1 -minute video using any App. you have found suitable for the topic of your choice. Share your video on this Padlet.
Rubrics for assessing the video are in the document uploaded on the Padlet.
